8 Columshill Place, Rothesay, Bute

8 Columshill Place is a mid 19th century, two-storey house with an attic, designed in a plain classical style. It forms the end of a terrace and features a projecting stair tower at the rear. The exterior is constructed from coursed cherry-cocked rubble sandstone, with polished yellow sandstone margins. It has a raised base course and stugged grey and yellow sandstone quoins, as well as stugged grey and yellow sandstone surrounds for the openings, which have projecting cills. The basement and sides are finished in random rubble.

On the south elevation facing Columshill Place, there is a central entrance at ground level that leads through a renovated vestibule. There are single windows at ground level on the outer left and right, with single windows in all bays on the first floor. The outer bays feature three-light slate-hung canted dormers. The house has 12-pane timber sash and case windows and a grey slate roof with raised skews. The roof is topped with corniced rendered apex stacks on the east and west sides, along with various circular cans.

The interior was not seen during the 1996 inspection. The building was rehabilitated in 1983.
