Description

Craigeach is a late 19th-century half-timbered house with single and two-storey elements, set over four bays (arranged as a group of one bay and three bays). The exterior is whitewashed harl with contrasting timbering. Windows have architraves and cornices on the ground floor, with timber transoms and mullions.

The southwest (principal) elevation has slightly set-back bays to the right of the centre, incorporating a slated timber porch with turned columns. The porch has multi-pane glazing with decorative timber detail. A small, piended dormer window breaks the eaves immediately above the porch. To the right of the porch, an eight-light transomed window sits at ground level, and a piended six-light transomed window (without architrave or cornice) breaks the eaves into a dormerhead above. A broad gabled bay to the left of the centre features a wide-centre tripartite window at ground level, with a roundheaded centre light and transomed outer lights, and a six-light transomed tripartite window above. The bay to the outer left is single-storey, with a six-light transomed tripartite window to the right and a timber door with a letterbox fanlight to the left, all set behind a large projecting porch supported by rustic poles.

The northwest elevation has a blank bay with a jerkinhead roof to the right of the centre, and a window in a slightly set-back, lower, flat-roofed extension to the left. A timber door is recessed at the outer left, and a small window is located to the left of centre on the first floor. A dominant wallhead stack is centred above.

The southeast elevation is piend-roofed, with a single window to the right of the centre and a tall wallhead stack.

The northeast (rear) elevation has a lean-to bay with two windows at ground level to the centre. A timber door is on the return to the right and a window is set back at the outer right. A small bipartite window is located at first floor level to the centre, with piended dormerheaded windows breaking the eaves in the flanking bays.

The upper portions of the windows largely have small panes of glass, while the lower portions have plate glass in timber sash and case windows. The roof is covered in grey slates. The chimneys have cavetto coped neck-banding and cans. Overhanging eaves are finished with plain bargeboarding.

The interior features a part-glazed hall door with an etched fanlight, a timber-balustraded staircase, and timber fireplaces.
