Description

The Tileries is a near-symmetrical, single-storey house with an attic, built in 1849. It features three bays, with a single-storey, single-bay wing recessed to the outer right and another single-bay wing to the outer left. At the rear, there is a single-storey addition that forms a T-plan. The exterior is finished in whitewashed harl with slightly raised, painted margins, strip quoins, and a gabled entrance. There are also single-storey red brick outbuildings to the east and south.

The northeast (entrance) elevation has an advanced entrance with a timber panelled door located beneath a gable. It includes an original small-paned fanlight and an armorial panel embossed with "1849," flanked by foliate details. There are single windows at ground level in the bays to the left and right, and above these are three-light canted dormers. A single window is centered in the recessed wing to the outer right, while a boarded timber door is found in the bay to the outer left.

The windows feature 4-, 9-, and 16-pane timber sash and case glazing. The roof is covered with graded grey slate and has raised stone skews, along with replacement rainwater goods. There are replacement coped apex stacks to the northwest and southeast, with various circular cans.

The east and south outbuildings have boarded timber doors and segmental-arched openings to the south. They also have grey slate roofs, which are bell-cast and piended to the south, along with replacement rainwater goods and a red brick apex stack to the east. The interiors of these outbuildings were not seen in 1996.

A coped whitewashed boundary wall encloses the site at the front, featuring a cast-iron pedestrian entry gate.
