Description
The Boat House in Ascog, Bute, dates from the earlier to mid-19th century. It is a single-storey, single-bay gabled structure that is accessed from the main road. The building is made of coursed, droved sandstone, with some plastic repairs. It features a raised, droved base course and long and short surrounds to the central opening, which are partly polished. A painted voussoir arch is present above this opening, and there is a lean-to addition that is recessed to the outer right.
On the west elevation, which serves as the entrance, there is a large, two-leaf boarded timber door with a round arch, centrally located beneath the gable head. The roof is missing slates and has raised sandstone ashlar skews, rolled skewputts, and a red brick apex stack to the east, along with a single circular can.
The interior was not seen in 1996.
