Masonic Lodge And Hall, The Square, Glamis

The Masonic Lodge and Hall in The Square, Glamis, dates back to around 1830, with a 20th-century extension added to the southeast. This two-storey, three-bay building is designed in an L-shape and features a piend roof. It is constructed from stugged sandstone ashlar with raised margins, and squared and snecked rubble with droved quoins on the sides and rear. The building includes base, band, and eaves courses.

On the southwest elevation, which is the principal facade, there is an architraved door surround with a deep-set timber door and a small-pane fanlight at the center. Flanking the door are windows, and the first floor has taller, regularly spaced windows.

The northeast elevation displays asymmetrical fenestration and a small extension to the right of the center. The southwest elevation features timber sash and case effect windows with a 16-pane glazing pattern. The roof is covered with grey slates, and there are coped and shouldered ashlar wallhead stacks with some chimney cans.

Inside, the main hall has plain cornicing on the coomb ceiling, boarded timber dadoes, and a timber fireplace. The boundary walls surrounding the property are made of rubble and topped with ashlar coping.
