Parish Manse, Leithen Road, Innerleithen

The Parish Manse on Leithen Road in Innerleithen dates from the late 18th century, with some earlier 19th century and later additions. This two-storey, three-bay building has a rectangular plan and is symmetrically designed. It features a corniced square pilastered doorpiece and is constructed from finely tooled whinstone rubble, accented with tabbed raised and painted sandstone window margins and a base course. There are later 20th century additions, including a brick and rendered external stair, a sunroom, and box dormers on the north side.

The windows are predominantly timber sash and case with a 12-pane glazing pattern, and there is a panelled timber door with a four-pane glazed fanlight. The roof is covered with slate, and it has stone skews, along with corniced ashlar gable end stacks that have plain cans. The building also features cast-iron rainwater goods.

Inside, there are some notable later 19th century details, such as egg and dart cornicing in the principal room. The interior includes marble chimneypieces with tiled inserts and some plain timber mantels on the upper floor, as well as a mix of six-panel and four-panel doors.

The boundary walls are made of whinstone rubble.
