Manse, 9 Harbour Road, Wigtown

The Manse at 9 Harbour Road in Wigtown dates from around 1830 and is a two-storey, three-bay symmetrical building. It features rubble walling with rusticated polished red sandstone quoins, while the rear is finished in granite. The openings are architraved, and the central entrance has a consoled corniced doorpiece with a panelled door and fanlight above. All windows are single light, sash and case style with 12-pane glazing. The building has an eaves band and an eaves cornice, topped with slate roofs. The end skews and corniced end stacks are made of rusticated sandstone at the front and granite at the rear. There are two modern roof lights on the front. Inside, the panelled shutters and doors are original, and the staircase features simple cast-iron balusters. The property is enclosed by coped rubble boundary walls, which include cast-iron gatepiers and a gate.
