Applegarth, Harbour Road, Wigtown

Applegarth is an earlier 19th-century, two-storey house with a basement, featuring three bays. The exterior is made of painted rubble with raised painted angles and window margins. The central entrance has a margined doorway with a panelled door and an arched fanlight above.

At the rear, there are two piend-roofed wings and a single-storey flat-roofed addition to the basement. The windows are all single-light, with the one above the door having a lowered cill and a wrought-iron balcony. The house has sash and case windows with two-pane plate glass glazing, an eaves band, eaves cornice, and a blocking course. The left side has skews and a tall corniced stack, while the right side features a piended roof with graded slate roofs. There is a single-storey, piend-roofed wing on the left and a lean-to modern part-glazed conservatory on the south side.

In the garden, there is a free-standing sandstone sundial. The boundary is marked by rubble walls topped with stone coping and includes gatepiers.
