4 South Main Street And Garden Wall, Wigtown

4 South Main Street is an earlier 19th century, two-storey L-plan house featuring a four-bay front facing South Main Street. The exterior is constructed of rubble walling with painted raised margins. There are steps with cast-iron balusters leading to a projecting Doric entrance, which is off-centre to the right and includes a panelled door with a fanlight above. The house has single light windows that are sash and case with plate glass glazing. The gable over the two left bays is topped with a tall corniced apex stack that has octagonal cans. The building has end skews, skewputts, and slate roofs, along with traditional rooflights. On the east gable, there are two first-floor windows. Additionally, there is a coped rubble garden wall that features ball-finials.
