Sunningdale, 16 South Main Street, Wigtown

Sunningdale is an earlier 19th century, two-storey, two-bay house located on South Main Street in Wigtown. It is part of a terraced street with taller neighboring properties. The house is constructed of painted rubble with ashlar margins, a base, band and eaves courses, and rusticated quoins. The entrance door is paired with a window on the outer left, with another window to the right at ground level, and there are two first-floor windows. The glazing is modern UPVC. The roof is covered with graduated grey slates and features modern rooflights. There are broad, tall, rusticated gable stacks shared with the adjacent building. At the rear, there is a two-storey, piend-roofed wing that is taller than the main block. A trade panel inscribed with initials, a sheaf of corn, and the date 1730 is incorporated into the rear of the house.
