Description
The Free Church Manse in Canonbie dates from around 1851 and is a two-storey, three-bay building featuring a long, nearly full-height rear wing. The exterior is constructed of grey stugged ashlar coursers with polished dressings.
On the southeast elevation, there is a central panelled door topped with a fanlight and a consoled cornice. The windows are lying-pane sashes. The first floor has a cill course, broad angle pilaster strips that extend full-height, a cornice, and a blocking course that ramps slightly towards the center. The building has corniced end stacks and a piended slate roof. The rear wing was built in two stages and includes east-facing doors and a carriage opening.
