Description

The Old Schoolhouse in Canonbie is a two-storey, three-bay building dating from the earlier to mid-19th century. The exterior is rendered and features painted margins.

On the southeast elevation, there is a square central bay that is set forward, with a side entry that includes a panelled door topped by a fanlight. To the right, there is a bipartite window inserted at ground floor level, while the other windows are all 12-pane sashes. The building has projecting eaves and squat apex stacks that are corniced. The roof is piended and covered with graded slates.

The west elevation has two wide bays. The entrance is marked by square gatepiers with projecting caps, flanked by wrought-iron gates.
