White House, 5 The Square, Glamis

The White House, located at 5 The Square in Glamis, is a house dated 1766, although it likely underwent changes in the late 19th century, including the addition of a later porch. This two-storey house with an attic features three bays and a single-storey wing, with a harled exterior that has painted margins on the southwest side.

The southeast elevation, which serves as the entrance, is symmetrical. It has a central bay at the ground level with a jerkin-headed porch that includes a timber door, flanking lights, and tripartite windows on the returns. There are additional windows in the flanking bays and regular fenestration on the first floor. A wall-mounted stone sundial, dated, is positioned high at the outer left angle.

On the southwest elevation, which faces The Square, there are two windows grouped to the right on each floor, along with two small attic openings above.

The northwest elevation features windows in the centre and outer left bays at the ground level, and a window in the centre on the first floor below a shouldered stack. There is a piended single-storey wing adjoining the outer left side.

The windows are timber sash and case, with 4- and 12-pane glazing patterns. The roof is covered with grey slates, and there are coped ashlar and brick stacks with cans.

The property is enclosed by semicircular-coped rubble boundary walls.
