Coach-House, Woodend House Estate, Loch Fad, Bute

The Coach-House at Woodend House Estate, located near Loch Fad on Bute, dates from the earlier 19th century. It is a symmetrical, single-storey building with a rectangular plan and three bays. The front is finished in whitewashed rubble sandstone, while the sides and rear are made of harl-pointed rubble sandstone. The building features tooled rubble quoins and tooled long and short surrounds around the openings, which include both round and pointed arches.

On the east elevation, there is a pointed-arched entrance at the center with a grilled fanlight above it. Flanking this entrance are stylised cruciform gunloops. The outer bays on the left and right contain two-leaf boarded timber doors, which are set in round-arched surrounds.

The roof is covered with graded grey slate and has a piended design, complete with lead flashings. At the rear, there is a coped wallhead stack with a single can. The interior was not seen in 1996.
