Description

Kilwhinleck Farm is an earlier 19th-century farmhouse designed in a symmetrical, single-storey, three-bay plain classical style, with a single bay addition recessed to the outer right. At the rear, there are single-storey outbuildings that form a courtyard. The farmhouse is constructed from painted sandstone rubble with raised, painted margins, while the outbuildings are made of whitewashed rubble with raised, whitewashed margins.

On the west (entrance) elevation of the farmhouse, there are steps leading to two-leaf boarded timber storm doors at the center, flanked by single windows, and a single window in the recessed bay to the outer right. The east (rear) elevation features a small single window at the center, flanked by single windows, and a lean-to porch located in the re-entrant angle to the left. The front has four-pane timber sash and case glazing, while the rear has twelve-pane timber sash and case glazing. The roof is covered with graded grey slate, has raised stone skews, and includes replacement rainwater goods. There are corniced apex stacks to the north and south, with circular cans.

The interior was not seen in 1996.

The north range on the south (courtyard) elevation has a two-leaf boarded timber opening in the outer left bay, with a single doorway offset to the left of center. There are also single doorways in the penultimate bay to the outer right and in the outer right bay, along with a small single window offset to the left of center and narrow slit openings in the remaining bays to the left. The east range on the west (courtyard) elevation has a boarded timber door offset to the left of center and single windows in the outer left and right bays. The south range on the north (courtyard) elevation is blind in all bays. Various skylights are present, and the roofs are covered with graded grey slate, have raised stone skews, and include replacement rainwater goods.

The boundary wall is a part-painted, random rubble sandstone wall that encloses the garden at the front.
