Description

Dated 1901 on drainpipe, but looks c 1860/70 Victorian

freestyle. 2-storey mansion. Stugged snecked rubble

with polished dressings and raised margins. South elevation

has slightly advanced and gabled left hand section with large

ground floor four light canted bay, shafted with voluted

capitals, single plain centre window, and plain advanced

tripartite to right with similar shafts. 3 first floor

windows, outer ones two light and right hand pair with

gablets. Gable has scroll-crested skews. 3 window west

elevation, north bay projecting modern glazed porch. Single

storey rear wing. East entrance elevation (to Argyle

Street) has double-leaf door with semi-circular fanlight,

set in Roman Doric pilasters and entablature, at advanced

entrance bay. 2 window gable to left plain 2 window (one

bipartite) section to right. Slated roof with red tile crest

and red chimney pots.

Ashlar garden wall to Argyle Street stepped downhill. Square

gatepier and coping. About 2 metres high rubble wall to

Airlie Street.
