23 Glasgow Street, Helensburgh

23 Glasgow Street in Helensburgh is a mid-19th century single-storey villa with a later attic addition, designed in a T-plan layout. The building features grey and red stugged rubble with ashlar dressings, a base course, strip quoins, raised margins, and overhanging eaves.

On the south elevation facing Argyle Street, there is a timber dentilled cornice above a pilastered doorpiece at the center, which has cavetto jambs, a 2-pane fanlight, and two-leaf panelled doors. There are also windows on either side of the entrance.

The east elevation facing Glasgow Street has a window on the outer left and a smaller window on the outer right.

The north elevation at the rear includes a two-storey gabled block that projects from the center, featuring a door on the east face. The upper storey, which is a later addition containing a stair, is harled. There is a long single-storey service wing that abuts this block, with a window on the outer left.

Most of the windows are 4-pane sash and case types, with round-headed panes in the upper sashes. The dormer window on the north side has a 12-lying pane with round-headed lights in the upper sashes. The roof is covered in grey and purple slate, featuring two slate-hung timber gabled and pilastered dormers on the south side, a small rooflight in between, and two gabled dormers on the north side, with rendered coped stacks at the gables topped with polygonal cans.
