The Lodge, 121 Argyle Street West, Helensburgh

The Lodge, located at 121 Argyle Street West in Helensburgh, is a single storey and attic villa built in the later 19th century, with additions made around 1900. The building is constructed from stugged, squared, snecked cream sandstone, featuring ashlar dressings, a base course, ashlar mullioned windows, and a cornice.

On the north elevation facing Argyle Street West, there is a recessed porch at the center, supported by two cast-iron columns. To the right of the porch is a doorway with a fanlit panelled door, leading to a deep-set vestibule door with etched glazing. A small window is located to the left, and below it is a commemorative plaque to Logie Baird. The outer right side features a canted window that closes a loggia, while to the outer left is a bipartite window. There are also two canted dormers with finialled piended slate roofs.

The east side elevation has a canted window off-centre to the left and a window to the right. The south elevation includes a later single storey block from around 1900, which has three windows. The west side elevation features a single storey projection to the right with two windows and a door facing west, as well as a door on the return to the right. To the left, there are two recessed windows.

Most of the windows are plate glass sash and case. The roof is steeply piended and covered with grey slate, featuring ashlar corniced stacks and original cans.

Inside, the villa has corniced ceilings and black marble chimneypieces in the dining room.
