Glencairn, 1-3 Infirmary Street, Brechin

Glencairn is a large, symmetrical two-storey villa built around 1850. The structure is made of rubble with raised ashlar quoins at the corners and around the front openings, while other openings have margins only. The front features three windows and a central projecting two-storey entrance bay topped with a gable that has a ball finial. There are steps leading to the door, which are widely splayed and have simple railings. The west side has two-window gables with a single central attic window. The villa has a large gabled roof with broad end stacks, although the west stack has been rebuilt. At the rear, there is a single-storey and attic addition with a piended roof at the north end. The roofs are slated with straight skews, and there is one modern box dormer. The sash windows are mostly original with a 12-pane pattern. Additionally, there are polygonal ashlar gatepiers.
