Description

7 Bruntsfield Terrace is a two-storey, three-bay villa built before 1858, featuring a symmetrical rectangular plan and a single-storey projection at the rear. The villa is constructed from grey sandstone with a stugged ashlar front and polished dressings, while the rear and sides are made of squared and snecked rubble. It has a base course and architraved windows on the first floor, along with an eaves cornice.

On the northeast (front) elevation, there is an architraved doorway at the center, which has a consoled cornice, a panelled door, and a tiled vestibule. Above this doorway is a single window on the first floor. The outer bays feature canted windows with plain parapets at the ground floor and single windows on the first floor.

The southwest (rear) elevation includes a single-storey projection with a half-piend roof and single windows to the right. There is a coped wallhead stack above this projection and single windows to the left.

The northwest elevation has a coped wallhead stack. The southeast elevation features a secondary door on the return of the rear projection to the outer left, with single windows in the left bay and a single window on the first floor of the center bay. There is also a coped wallhead stack at the center.

The villa has timber sash and case windows, with two-pane upper sashes and four-pane lower sashes. The roof is a combination of piend and platform slate with metal flashings, and there are three wallhead stacks. The eaves gutter is moulded.

The interior was not seen in 1992. The property is enclosed by a low rubble boundary wall at the front with saddleback coping, and there are tall rubble walls with semi-circular coping at the rear and sides. Screen walls with rectangular timber doors flank the front elevation.
