4 Greenhill Gardens, Edinburgh

4 Greenhill Gardens is a villa built around 1850, featuring two storeys and a three-bay rectangular plan. The exterior is made of squared and snecked sandstone, with stugged ashlar on the entrance elevation. It has chamfered reveals, overhanging eaves, and gabletted single windows on the first floor.

On the west entrance elevation, there is a central bay with an architraved basket-arched doorway and a fanlight above. The doorway has a boarded door with decorative iron hinges and a plate glass fanlight. Above the doorway is a window on the first floor. The outer left bay is advanced and features a two-storey canted window, while the outer right bay has single windows.

The north elevation has an advanced gabled bay in the centre, with a machiolated corbel supporting a corniced oriel window that has round-headed lights. There is a single window on the first floor to the outer right.

The south elevation is M-gabled with irregularly placed windows, including six-pane sash and case windows. The roof is covered with grey slate and has corniced gablehead stacks, along with a timber finial on the main gable.

The interior was not seen in 1991. There are also garage gatepiers and boundary walls, with a pitched roof garage detached to the south. The gatepiers are square in section, and there is a low saddleback-coped boundary wall along the street, with higher mutual walls.
