Description

18 Greenhill Gardens is a villa built around 1850, featuring two storeys and an irregular three-bay plan, with some additions on the outer left side. The exterior is made of squared and snecked sandstone, with coursed stugged ashlar on the main elevation. Architectural details include plain architraves, overhanging baracketted timber eaves, timber bargeboards and finials, and quoin strips.

The west entrance elevation has a prominent timber and glass porch in the central bay, which includes a glazed panelled door, shouldered-arched lights, and a fanlight. It features a bracketted cornice and a piended roof with wrought-iron brattishing that forms a balcony over the gabletted first-floor window. There is a single-storey canted window in the advanced bay on the outer left, with iron brattishing creating a balcony for the first-floor window above. To the outer right, there is a regrettable timber and glass lean-to at ground level, with a gabletted window above on the first floor. Additionally, there is a later single-storey flat-roofed stone entrance porch adjoining the outer left.

The north elevation is largely obscured by later additions, while the south elevation is blank. The villa features sliding-pane sash and case windows and has a grey slate gabled roof with corniced gablehead stacks and snowguards on the north side.

The interior was not seen in 1991. The property also includes two wrought-iron pedestrian gates and a pair of carriage gates with decorative floral details, along with two corniced ashlar gatepiers at the boundary with the street. There is a low coped doursed rubble boundary wall to the street, with higher mutual walls.
