30-31 Montgomerie Terrace, Ayr

30-31 Montgomerie Terrace is a villa built around 1856, featuring two stories and an asymmetrical three-bay plan. The exterior is made of coursed, squared sandstone, with a base course, eaves course, cornice, blocking course, and strip quoins. The window openings have margins, and the ground floor windows have aprons, while the outer first-floor windows have bracketed cills.

On the south elevation, there is a central entrance porch with a cornice supported by columns, a panelled timber door, and a fanlight with a letterbox. Above the entrance, there is a single elongated window aligned with the porch. The flanking bays have regular fenestration.

The west elevation features three bays with regular fenestration, although the left bay has blind windows. There is a recessed single-storey section with a catslide roof on the outer left.

The villa has predominantly modern glazing, but some original lying pane and timber sash and case windows remain on the side and rear elevations. The roof is covered with grey slate and has coped wallhead stacks with circular cans.

The interior was not seen in 1998. The property is enclosed by a coped boundary wall, which includes square-plan gatepiers at the vehicular entrances on the outer left and right, as well as an additional pedestrian entrance to the left of the right vehicular entrance.
