Description

The Citadel Fortifications, designed by Hans Ewald Tessin around 1654, feature the western half of a large hexagon with a long axis oriented north and south and pentagonal angles. The northern pentagon includes a prominently corbelled bartizan, which was rebuilt in 1853 for John Miller, earning it the nickname Miller's Folly. The structure is constructed with ashlar and rubble walls that are set on a batter.
