Description
St Anne's Hill is a Tudoresque gabled villa located on Bellevue Road in Banff, originally built before 1823 and remodelled by architects A & W Reid from Elgin in 1846. This asymmetrical house features two storeys and an attic, with three front bays facing the south garden facade. The exterior is harled, with significant use of ashlar margins and dressings. It has an advanced front porch and large mullioned and transomed windows with multi-pane glazing. The villa is topped with a slate roof and has tall octagonal chimney stacks.
At the rear, there is a first-floor entry accessed by a forestair, which is adorned with a fine early 19th-century decorative cast-iron balustrade.
The garden is enclosed by a coped rubble wall, and at the entrance from Bellevue Road, there are a pair of octagonal gatepiers with facetted, moulded caps. Low harled quadrants connect these gatepiers to square end piers.
