Description

Circa 1830. 2-storey, 3-bay villa over raised basement. Harled,

painted ashlar margins and dressings. Symmetrical frontage; centre entrance and flanking windows set in shallow round-headed recesses, fronted by cast-iron lattice decked terrace and approached by flight of steps oversailing raised basement. Fine original decorative cast-iron balustrade to steps and terrace. Fine original panelled door with decorative beaded detailing; decoratively glazed rectangular fanlight. Long flanking windows; shorter raised basement and lst floor windows with one blind 1st floor window in S return gable; 9 and 12-pane timber sash and case windows. Tooled granite wallhead stacks; piended slate roof with deep soffits.

Later lean-to glazed conservatory against S return gable.

INTERIOR: drawing room to right of hall with deep moulded skirting boards, ceiling frieze and later painted wood chimneypiece. Dining room with renewed modern chimneypiece and mural dado rail.

GATEPIERS AND GATES: pair of tooled ashlar gatepiers with flat copes; pair original decorative cast-iron spearhead gates with urn finials to stiffeners.

GARDEN WALLS: rubble garden walls heightened with brick; walls harled where fronting Sandyhill Road.
