Description
Mulberry Manor, located in Greenskares, is a symmetrical single-storey villa built in 1846 by A and W Reid, with a raised basement and a two-storey central section that features three bays. The exterior is constructed of harled rubble with contrasting painted ashlar margins and dressings. The south front showcases a gabled central bay with a main entrance that has a panelled door flanked by sidelights, all beneath a tetrastyle portico. Above the entrance, there is a central first-floor window in the gable, while the outer bays contain simple windows.
The rear (north) elevation features an advanced and gabled two-storey central bay with tripartite windows (some of which are blind) in each bay and a simple window in the upper floor gable. The return elevations on either side have two windows (one blind) on the east side and a central door under a stair window on the west side, which has a later flanking light.
The villa has lying-pane glazing and paired corniced stacks at the centre. The outer wings have a piended slate platform roof, while the central section has a gabled roof with joisted eaves that return to indicate an open pediment at both the front and rear.
Inside, the villa features a plain interior with an entrance lobby leading to a central passage. It includes panelled doors and window shutters, simple ceiling cornices, and a staircase.
