Description
137 Main Street in Aberchirder is an early 19th-century cottage with later 19th-century additions. It is a single-storey, three-bay gabled building that has been extended to include an attic. The exterior is constructed of harl pointed rubble with ashlar dressings. The central entrance features a door with a letterbox fanlight above it and is topped by a stone consoled cornice. On either side of the entrance are tripartite windows, which may have been enlarged from original single windows. The outer bays have slate-hung, canted, piend-roofed dormers above, decorated with billet moulding. The sash and case windows have a four-pane glazing pattern. The roof is covered with grey slates and includes a single rooflight. The building has ashlar coped skews and gablehead stacks, along with decorative cans. Additionally, there is an ashlar coped rubble boundary wall surrounding the property.
