Description
The building is a granary from the earlier 19th century, featuring a two-storey, eight-bay rectangular plan. It is positioned at right angles to the street and is located opposite the former market ground. The structure is constructed of random rubble with ashlar dressings. On the ground floor, there are three large wooden sliding doors, which are separated by two mirrored stone forestairs that lead to loading doorways on the first floor, breaking the eaves in gabled dormerheads. The cantilevered platt of the forestairs is designed to facilitate loading. The first floor has six small windows, along with boarded doors and shutters. The roof is covered with blue-grey slates, and features an ashlar ridge and coped skews, with an end stack on the north side.
