12 The Square, Aberchirder

12 The Square in Aberchirder is a mid-19th century house that may include some earlier elements and has been raised later. It is a two-storey, three-bay building with an attic, located at the corner of the town square and Main Street. The structure is made of squared and coursed granite with a base course. The central entrance features a door with a letterbox fanlight, and there is a window to the left. A former window on the right has been enlarged to accommodate a later door, with a modern window opening to the outer right. On the first floor, there are three windows. The wallhead has been raised by three courses to create space for the attic, which includes two canted, piend-roofed dormers in the outer bays. The first-floor windows are sash and case with a four-pane glazing pattern, while there is one modern window at ground level. The roof is covered with blue-grey slates, and there are ashlar coped skews and stacks with decorative cans.
