Description
20 Bank Street in Wigtown is a house built in the earlier to mid 19th century. It is a 2-storey, 3-bay structure situated on sloping ground, part of a terraced group. The first floor features gabled dormerheads that break the eaves. The exterior is constructed of whinstone rubble, with squared granite margins and quoins, the right quoins interlocked with the neighboring property, No 22. There is a narrow, panelled door at the center, topped by a letterbox fanlight. Windows are located on either side at the ground level and above, with plate glass glazing patterns in the sash and case windows. The house has ashlar coped skews and rusticated quoins on the gablehead stacks, which still retain their cans. The roof is covered with graduated grey slates and has a sandstone ridge.
