Description

This building is a granary with a cartshed, located approximately 30 metres north-west of Alsia Mill. It dates from the late 18th century and was slightly heightened in the 19th century. The structure is made of granite rubble with granite dressings and features a grouted scantle slate roof with gable ends.

The granary has a rectangular plan built into the bank at the rear and on the right side, with opposing first-floor loading and winnowing doorways towards the left. There is a stone ramp leading up to the rear doorway. The exterior consists of two storeys, with the granary loft above a wagon basement. The north-east front has wide ogee shouldered doorways, a later or enlarged slit window on the right, a first-floor loading doorway towards the left, and an original slit ventilator on the right. The rear features an original loading doorway and slit ventilator, along with a large 20th-century window at the right-hand end.

Inside, the granary has a simple painted interior that includes the old first-floor structure and a 19th-century roof structure.
