Description
40 High Street in Pittulie is an early 19th-century cottage that has been heightened at a later date. It is a single-storey building with an attic and features three bays. There is a continuous single-storey extension at the north (seaward) gable, while the south gable faces the street. The exterior is constructed of heavily pointed rubble, with a harled rear and contrasting painted reveals. The central entrance is obscured by a later projecting lean-to porch that has a side entrance. On the south gable, which faces the street, there is a single ground floor window, and the clear silhouette of the original gable can still be seen. The cottage has a substantial single swept dormer at both the front and back, with 2-pane glazing. The end stacks have been renewed, and the roof is covered with red concrete tiles.
