Cape House, 21 Seafield Street, Banff

Cape House, located at 21 Seafield Street in Banff, was built between 1860 and 1870. It is a substantial two-storey and attic house with three bays, constructed from dark whinstone with contrasting sandstone dressings and margins. The gables are harled with ashlar margins.

The main entrance features a centre doorpiece with pilasters and a cornice, leading to a panelled door. On either side of the entrance are corniced bipartite windows with moulded jambs, and the first floor has three windows with similar moulding on their jambs. The return gable facing Reidhaven Street includes two ground floor and two first floor windows. The house also has two canted wallhead dormers and four-pane timber sash and case glazing. The roof is slate, and there are coped end stacks.

Surrounding the rear garden are harled rubble walls.
