Description

The jail walls on St Catherine Street in Banff date from the early to mid 19th century. They consist of a high coped rubble wall that runs along St Catherine Street and ends in a rectangular two-stage angle tower at the corner of Reidhaven Street. A similar tower faces Reidhaven Street, with a length of the rear wall running parallel to St Catherine Street.

Each rubble tower features tooled ashlar margins and dressings, and both are two stages high with dummy slits and crenellated wallheads.
