Description
Chattonville is a house built around 1900-1910, designed in a free style. It is a single storey and attic structure with three bays, constructed from dark local squared whinstone with harled gables and generous use of ashlar dressings. The entrance is recessed and features ashlar jambs that rise to form a shaped overdoor framing an oval fanlight, with a modern door. There are bipartite windows on either side of the entrance. The outer bays have pedimented dormers that are corbelled out on ashlar bases and flanked by scroll brackets. The centre dormer has a rounded head and a leaded roof. The upper lights of the timber sash and case windows, as well as the centre dormer, feature multi-pane glazing.
The house has long and short margins, original cast-iron rainwater goods, corniced end stacks, and a slate roof.
