Description

A & W Reid, 1845. Former Free Church of Scotland school with substantial later rear addition. Original school: single storey, 3-bay rectangular building with advanced and gabled centre bay. Harled, ashlar dressings and margins. Wide ashlar jambs to centre door below gable framed with simple bracketed bargeboards to resemble pediment; centre apex bellcote (no bell survives). Flanking windows with original timber sash and case margined lying-pane glazing; wide triparties in each return gable with similar glazing pattern. Slate roof with projecting eaves.

Substantial rear 2-storey harled block with slated piended roof:

12-pane glazing, also sash and case.
