Description
The Methodist Church on Seafield Street in Banff was designed by architect Mr. Ormiston from Edinburgh and dates back to 1878. This small church showcases Gothic revival architecture and is built from dark local whinstone, featuring contrasting tooled ashlar dressings and margins. The entrance gable faces Seafield Street and includes a porch, while the return elevation to Reidhaven Street has five bays, each lit by bipartite pointed-headed windows with lattice-pane glazing.
The church is topped with a ridge spirelet and has a slate roof adorned with a decorative red tiled ridge. At the rear, there is a single-storey, two-bay vestry with a doorway.
Inside, the church has a simple layout that includes an entrance lobby and retains original fittings. The interior features plain pews, a panelled dais for the minister, and a timber braced ceiling.
