Description
Rostrevor is a villa located at 64 Rubislaw Den North in Aberdeen, built between 1895 and 1896 by W & J Smith and William Kelly. The building is two stories high with an attic and features a two-bay design. The ground floor is constructed of tooled coursed granite ashlar, while the first floor has Aberdeen bond ashlar, finely finished at the edges. The remainder of the villa is made of granite rubble, with a roughly tooled base course and contrasting light grey long and short dressings on the first floor.
The south elevation is asymmetrical, showcasing a five-light canted window on the right side at the ground floor, which has a parapet that forms a balcony for the first floor. There is a bipartite window above it on the first floor, and to the left, there are bipartite windows on both the ground and first floors. A rectangular dormer is centered in the attic.
The east elevation is also asymmetrical, featuring a panelled timber door at the center of the ground floor with a letterbox fanlight above it. There is a window to the left of the door and a single window in the center of the first floor.
The north elevation was not visible in 2000.
The west elevation is asymmetrical as well, with a stepped tripartite stair window at the center. There is a single-storey and attic wing with a doorway on the left return, which connects to the outer left side of the building.
The villa predominantly has timber sash and case windows, with fine leaded upper sashes on the ground floor and small-pane upper sashes on the first floor. The roof is piended, covered with green-grey slate and features lead ridges. Wallhead stacks have circular cans, and there are cast-iron rainwater goods.
The interior was not seen in 2000.
The property includes square-plan granite ashlar gatepiers with pyramidal caps on the south side, connected by low coped walls. The remainder of the boundary is made up of granite and brick coped rubble walls.
