Description

Selsden is a 2-storey, 3-bay villa built in 1905 by Robert Gordon Wilson. The exterior is crafted from tooled coursed grey granite ashlar, with a rough-faced base course, a dividing band course, a cill course at the first floor, and overhanging eaves.

The south elevation is asymmetrical, featuring regular fenestration with two bays to the right and an advanced pedimented bay to the left. The ground floor has a 4-light canted window, which is topped by a parapet that forms a balcony for the first floor above. There is a tripartite window on the first floor and a blind oculus centered in the pediment.

The east elevation includes a stained glass stair window at the center. The north elevation was not visible in 2000. The west elevation is also asymmetrical, with an advanced bay to the left and a piend-roofed entrance porch at the re-entrant angle to the right, which features a parapet and a chamfered outer angle with a window at the center, along with another window to the left on the first floor and a dormer in the attic.

The villa predominantly features 2-pane timber sash and case windows. The roof is covered in grey slate with piended and gabled sections, and it has lead ridges. Coped wallhead stacks with circular cans and cast-iron rainwater goods are also present.

The interior was not seen in 2000. The property includes distinctive gatepiers shared with 68 Rubislaw Den North, which are located to the southeast. There is a low coped granite ashlar wall flanking the property, square-plan gatepiers to the southwest with shallow pyramidal caps, and rubble walls for the remainder. An ancillary structure with a half-timbered gablehead is situated to the northwest of the villa.
