Description
The Castle Inn, located at 17 Castle Street in Aberdeen, is a two-storey and attic, four-bay townhouse that dates back to around 1760, possibly designed by William Law. The building features commercial premises on the ground floor, with a round-arched pend opening to the right. It is constructed from coursed Loanhead granite and has raised moulded lugged architraves on the first storey, along with a moulded eaves cornice. The roof is steeply pitched and covered with grey slates, and there are two piended, canted dormers.
The entrance on the left consists of a four-panel, two-leaf timber door with a glazed fanlight above. The first storey has 12-pane timber sash and case windows, while the ground floor features multi-pane windows with timber astragals. There is a late 20th century extension to the rear of the building.
