House, South of 16 Ryanstown Road, Newry, Co Down, BT34 2NG

This is a derelict, two-storey, two-bay house located up a lane on the east side of Ryanstown Road, Newry. The house was likely constructed in the late 19th century, appearing in its present form on Ordnance Survey maps from 1901 and 1902. The roof is pitched but without slates. There are red brick chimneys to both gables, although these are in a state of collapse. The walls are lime-rendered over random rubble, with stepped stucco quoins. The window jambs are rendered brick, and the front ground floor window openings have raised architraves. The front elevation, which faces west, features a central porch with a pitched roof and a doorway. There is a single window opening to each bay at ground floor, and a dormer window with a single opening in each wall head above. Remnants of 2/2 sash window frames are evident. The left and right gables are blank. The right gable is abutted by a low, mono-pitched concrete block shed. A large, 20th-century single-storey concrete block kitchen extension, of no particular architectural interest, abuts the middle bay of the rear elevation. Single window openings are present on each floor to the left and right of this extension.
