Description

Single storey / four bay direct entry vernacular house on the E side of Grinan Lough Road. Pitched natural slate roof with rendered red brick chimney to each gable and a third between second and third bays. Tile skews and advanced eaves course, but no rainwater goods. Walls are whitewashed and lime rendered over random rubble. Front elevation faces W to road. All windows are 2/2 sliding sashes with horns and painted stone cills. Both end bays each have two windows, and the others each have a single window. Set to right on third bay from left is a wind break porch with pitched natural slate roof, scalloped timber bargeboard and t+g sheeted half door. Left gable is blank Rear elevation has door to second bay from left (head has collapsed). Otherwise blank. Right gable is blank. Abutted by a low lean-to shed with monopitched natural slate roof and walls as main block. Setting: At right of house, a wall encloses the back garden. It has a pair of cylindrical whitewashed gate piers with conical concrete copings supporting a pair of wrought iron gates with twisted detailing and central finial. Opposite, across road, is a range of much altered single storey outbuildings.
