Description

The building at 4 Bettys Hill Road, Newry, Co Down, was a house likely constructed between 1800 and 1819. Shown on an Ordnance Survey map from 1834, it was probably a single-story structure. It did not appear in the initial Valuation of around 1835, suggesting its value was below £5. The building was originally constructed with harled and whitened stone walls and a slated roof. It had double-hung windows with plain sashes, flanking a projecting porch containing a modern door. At the rear, two double-hung windows retained their original full glazing bars. A roughcast extension existed to the south side of the building. The original building has since been demolished, and a new bungalow now occupies the site. The building was characterized as vernacular architecture.
