61 Bettys Hill Road, Newry, Co Down, BT34 2ND

The building at 61 Bettys Hill Road, Newry, was originally a single-storey cottage constructed between 1800 and 1819. It is now demolished and replaced by a modern bungalow. An 1834 Ordnance Survey map shows a building at the location, but it was not included in the first Valuation (circa 1835), suggesting it had a value less than £5. The building, as recorded in a 1970 survey, had roughcast and whitewashed walls, a slated roof, and double-hung vertically divided sash windows. It was originally three bays wide, with the left bay possibly a later addition. The central and right bays were symmetrical, containing a central entrance flanked by single 2/2 sash windows, with a similar window in the left bay. Whitewashed chimneys were present on both gables and one between the left and central bays. A small yard with a wrought iron gate led to a field at the front. The original building was a vernacular design.
