Dwelling, Between 49-61 Valley Rd, Annalong, Newry, Co Down, BT34 4UF

This is a vernacular two-storey, two-bay house located between numbers 49 and 61 Valley Road, Annalong, Newry, County Down. The building was likely constructed between 1860 and 1879. A contiguous barn adjoins the house to the east, and a single-storey shed is attached to the west gable. The house has a gabled roof covered with natural slates and a single rendered chimney positioned centrally. Rainwater goods are absent. The house and barn are built with lime-rendered random rubble granite walls. A projecting gabled porch, likely a later addition, is situated on the right side of the south elevation. The house features margin-paned sliding sash windows in poor condition, with exposed sash boxes, two windows visible on each floor. The barn has two ground-floor doors and one door above, all sheeted. External granite steps lead up to a first-floor door on the east gable of the barn. Unusual gate piers with slate coping, topped by rendered rubble sloping into a finial stone, are noteworthy features. An Ordnance Survey map from 1834 shows two separate houses on this site, which were depicted as a single building by 1859. The building is currently recorded as derelict.
