Lime Kiln, At rear of 41 Ballyveaghbeg Rd, Annalong, Newry, Co Down, BT34 4UL

This is a lime kiln located at the rear of 41 Ballyveaghbeg Road, Annalong, Newry, County Down. It is of local interest only. The kiln is constructed of random rubble granite fieldstones, forming a circular pot with an instepped drawhole underneath. Access to the top was formerly via a ramp on the north-west side, although this is now partially removed. The site is heavily overgrown. The kiln is depicted on the 1859 Ordnance Survey six-inch map, but not on the 1834 edition, suggesting a construction date between 1860 and 1879. It represents a site of industrial archaeological interest and was recorded as derelict. It was formerly and remains in use for rural industry.
