White House, 21 Stewarts Rd, Annalong, Newry, Co Down, BT34 4UE

The White House is a single-storey house, likely constructed between 1940 and 1959, located on Stewarts Road, Annalong, County Down. It presents a unique and eccentric design described as being in a ‘South American ethnic style’. The house is raised on stilts and has a gabled concrete tiled roof facing southwest. The southwest-facing elevation features a centrally positioned projecting porch with a segmental-headed entrance. Recessed to the left of the porch entrance is a door with a segmental head. Circular windows are positioned on either side of the door, each framed by a green ‘zigzag’ cement surround decorated with blue and white dots, along with segmental cills. The right gable has a single casement window to the left and a projecting circular chimney that tapers to a single chimney pot with projecting blue and white decorative elements. The left gable is blank. A lean-to extension is visible on the rear elevation’s left side, while the right gable features three windows, one of which is circular, and a rear entrance door. The garden contains a pair of large, decorative kangaroo sculptures, and both the boundary walls and gates share decorative elements consistent with the house's design.
