Description
The White House is a house built in the early 18th century and later, consisting of two sections. It has a double-pile layout and an 'M' shaped roof, constructed from red brick that is partly colourwashed, with pantile roofs. The house has two and three storeys, with the south wing dating from the late 18th to early 19th century featuring three bays. This wing has sash windows with margin lights on the ground and first floors, and rubbed arches above the openings, which are cambered on the ground floor. It also includes a wooden modillion eaves cornice and parapetted gables with tumbling, as well as internal gable chimneys. The central doorway has a two-leaf door with a panelled reveal.
The north wing, dating from the early 18th century, has two storeys and features sash windows with glazing bars and rubbed arches over the ground openings. This section has five bays and a central two-leaf door with a moulded surround and a canopy supported by console brackets. There is a modern canted bay on the left-hand side, rusticated quoins, and a brick dentil eaves course, along with internal gable chimney stacks. The property is enclosed by a coped brick boundary wall, which curves on the west side and terminates in piers topped with stone ball finials.
