Description

The Great Elm War Memorial is a First World War memorial made of Cornish granite. It features a wheel cross atop a tall shaft, which stands on an octagonal plinth with a square base. The cross is adorned with Celtic-knotwork carvings. On the south face of the shaft, there is a dedication that reads: 'TO THE GLORY OF GOD/ AND IN MEMORY OF/ THOSE OF THIS PARISH/ WHO FELL IN THE/ GREAT WAR/ 1914-1918'. The names of the fallen servicemen are inscribed on the faces of the plinth.
